I should become a seer.

it has been a few months real life got in my way.

I wondered when RSA-260 would finally be factored. I even added a note saying that the moment I published it, someone would probably announce they had done it.

Less than two weeks later Eric Lu at Cognition factored RSA-260 lol…

Then, just 16 days later, Stephen Weis factored RSA-896, a bigger number from the same challenge.

The funny part is that I had also wondered if the AI boom was taking computing resources away from maths departments. Both of these results used GPUs and AI coding agents. Devin helped with RSA-260, and Claude helped with RSA-896. The AI agents helped write and run the software. The actual factoring used a classical algorithm called the general number field sieve.

So no, a quantum computer did not factor RSA-260. My challenge to the quantum guys still stands.

Just factor 203. Please!
